Pregnancy and Travel
Unless your doctor warns you of a risky condition, there is no necessity to restrict travel by car or air.
With a healthy pregnancy, you can even undertake long journeys by paying attention to certain factors.
Points to consider:
Especially during long journeys, try not to remain immobile for long periods. Take a break every hour, at most every two hours, and walk for 10-15 minutes. If you are on a bus or plane, walk along the aisle to avoid prolonged inactivity.
During the journey, avoid holding your urine. Use the restroom at every break.
Do not consume heavy meals during the journey, do not skip meals, and drink plenty of fluids. Especially during the first three months, your existing nausea and vomiting may worsen, so it is advisable to consult your doctor about medication.
Air travel during pregnancy is also safe. However, it is advisable to learn about the airline’s rules regarding pregnancy before traveling.
