What Is Menopause?

Menopause refers to the decrease in egg production in the ovaries of women, accompanied by a reduction in female hormones (progesterone and estrogen). The production of these declining hormones in the body eventually stops entirely after a period following menopause.

Shortening or lengthening of the time between menstrual periods, depending on the changing hormone levels, can be considered among the first symptoms of menopause. Other symptoms may include psychological, physical, or sexual problems. The symptoms of menopause can generally be listed as follows:
