Vaginoplasty
Vaginoplasty, also known as vaginal tightening surgery, is a surgical procedure performed on the inner part of the genital area due to reasons associated with the loosening and widening of vaginal muscles over time.
Under what circumstances is vaginoplasty performed?
The vagina is composed of muscle and connective tissue. With advancing age, as well as factors such as vaginal childbirth, genetic makeup, and pregnancy, these tissues are affected, resulting in vaginal widening. The primary cause of vaginal widening is vaginal childbirth. Tears in the muscle and connective tissue can occur during difficult deliveries. Prolonged labor increases the likelihood of vaginal widening. Even individuals with genetically weak muscle and connective tissue structures may experience vaginal widening without giving birth.
In such cases, there may be difficulties in feeling one’s partner during sexual intercourse. Additionally, the sound emanating from the vagina during intercourse can decrease individuals’ concentration on the act. Some individuals may experience poor healing of stitches placed after vaginal childbirth. Furthermore, hormonal deficiencies can also lead to vaginal widening. Vaginal tightening surgeries can be performed on individuals with vaginal widening.
How is vaginoplasty performed?
Vaginal tightening is a surgical procedure performed in a hospital setting under general anesthesia. The individual is usually discharged the same day or after staying overnight in the hospital post-surgery.
