What is the Clitoris?

Due to its sensitivity, it must be protected, thus it is covered by a thin layer of skin called the prepuce (preputium).

Clitoral hood reduction, also known as clitoral hoodoplasty, hoodectomy, or clitoral unhooding, refers to the procedures aimed at reducing excess tissue around the clitoris and altering its position. Contrary to popular belief, hoodoplasty is not about reducing the size of the clitoris.

Who is Not Eligible for Clitoral Hood Reduction?

Clitoral hood reduction is not performed on individuals under the age of 18. Additionally, if the prepuce tissue is very thin and short, and if the clitoris will be exposed after the surgery, it should never be performed.
