In 1991, he enrolled in the English department of Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. During his medical education, in 1994, he completed an elective Pediatrics internship at Ufa State University Hospital in Russia, and in 1995, at South Cleveland Hospital in Middlesbrough, England.

In 1996, he was awarded the TEV Achievement Award by the Turkish Education Foundation.

In 1997, he graduated from medical school. The same year, he passed the TUS exam and began working as a cardiology assistant at Koşuyolu Heart and Research Hospital. He successfully passed the ECFMG exams.
